ART PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN
AND YOUTH Summer Art Camp 2013 Session I. July 8 - August 4 Session II. August 5 - Sept 1 All materials are included in the cost of tuition unless indicated otherwise (paper, pencils, pastels, charcoal, canvas, acrylics). Students of age 12 and up are asked to bring their own brushes, so that they can clean them after each class. Also, Bridgeview school does not provide oil paints. Students who wish to work with oils need to bring their own paints. One make-up per Semester is allowed, no exceptions. Groups are limited to 6 - 8 students only. Plein aire painting class will meet at the school and then proceed to a chosen location in the neighborhood. Variety of inspiring locations will be explored including parks and waterfronts. Guided by an experienced master artist students will pick a subject and record their feelings through form and color. Aspects of composition, color mixing, perspective and scale will be discussed. Students may choose their own materials such as watercolor, pastels, oils or pencils. Minimum Age 10 Sundays 10

For students in seventh and eighth grades who plan to apply to specialized art high schools, we provide a special portfolio preparation class. Drawing, painting and design assignments will also prepare students for auditions to these high schools. Bridgeview School has a successful track record with portfolio preparation. Currently, many of our students are enrolled in LaGuardia High School of Visual and Performing Arts, with others going to Bayside, Frank Sinatra and similar schools. Monday and Wednesday, 12:00 - 2.00 pm $300 per month or Monday and Wednesday 12:00 - 3:00 pm $380 per month or Saturday 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.$150 per month or Saturday 12:00 - 3.00 p.m. $190 per month College Portfolio. Focus on Portrait and Figure Drawing/Painting from Observation. Developing your own unique style. This class should be taken for more than one semester to develop a high quality scholarship-winning portfolio. Each class will include a short art history lecture. Subjects include still life, portrait and figure. Please note, that nude models are used in this class. Minimum age is 15 unless students have prior experience. Time permitting, visits to studios of practicing artists and field trips to Museums will also be arranged in addition to working in class. As an additional benefit for students, Bridgeview invites college admissions councilors who talk about their colleges and also review students' portfolios. Many of Bridgeview students who have enrolled in this class for more than one semester have been accepted to major art colleges on generous scholarships. *Supplies are not included. Students will be given a list of supplies for this course. Tuesdays and Thursdays 3.30 - 6.30 pm $280 per month or Saturdays 3.30 - 6.30 pm $300 for both Sessions I and II (8 weeks of classes) Materials are not included for this class, supplies list will be provided.
