PORTRAIT AND FIGURE
DRAWING. RUSSIAN CLASSICAL TRADITION.Working from a live model students will explore the philosophy and technical aspects of portrait and/or figure drawing practiced by generations of European masters. While focusing on creating an anatomically and structurally convincing drawing, students will explore a variety of drawing techniques taught at the Russian Academy of Fine Arts for the last two hundred years. Materials may include pencil, pastel on toned paper (pastel souse technique), and charcoal. Prior drawing experience is helpful, but is not necessary.
