DRAWING COURSESPortrait and Figure Drawing. Sculptural Approach. Using tone
and line students will attempt to approach drawing like
it was done by the masters of the Renaissance,
Michelangelo and Leonardo. Students will interpret the
human figure as a harmonious unity of
masses. Students will focus on understanding the
inner movement and structure of the human body by
learning both construction and anatomy. Students are
encouraged to combine both feeling and knowledge when
working on composition, proportions and modeling of the
forms. Short and long poses will be alternated. Beginners
are welcome to take this course, but they will begin
drawing from still life before they can progress to a
live model. Tuesday
and Thursday 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.

Bridgeview School has the most successful record of helping students to get into the best art schools in America and Russia. Our alumni have been admitted and given scholarships by SVA, Pratt, Parson's, FIT, New York Academy of Art, Art Institute of Boston and the Repin Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia. Saturday
3.00 - 6.00 p.m. PAINTING COURSESAcademic Painting. Still Life and Portrait. The Russian tradition in painting has always emphasized color, but not at the expense of drawing. Observing the slightest variations of color temperature and value in light and in shadow, students should search for a harmonious color unity. The Russian tradition also emphasizes the harmonious design of a painting. Details are important to the extent that they contribute to the overall composition, and not just produce photographic likeness. The key to strong painting lies in selective interpretation. By working from life in a variety of genres such as portrait or still life students will master both technical and conceptual aspects of painting. Beginner students work in ala prima technique.
