Tatyana received her training as a classical sculptor from the Rerich College of Art in St. Petersburg, Russia. She continued her training in theater and set design at the Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography, also in St. Petersburg. When she came to America, she received additional training in Fashion Design from Parson's School of Design in New York.

Tatyana Zhurkov is a recepient of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation's Award.

In 2001, she had a solo exhibit at the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. Zhurkov's work is included in major museum collections:
