Drawing, Painting, Composition, Creativity. Classical Approach.

"My daughter and I began taking classes at Bridgeview a couple months ago. I wish we had known about it sooner! Everything about it is wonderful: the teachers, the space, the approach, the one-on-one guidance… the teachers set each student up with a still life to suit that student’s needs and skill level. There is no nonsense. In my experience everyone is focused and busy at work. I imagine we will continue to take classes here as long as we live in New York City. My daughter is studying with Boris and I am studying with Leo." Nellie Fleischner

In studio classes run 7 days a week, during after school hours and all day on the weekends. Our 7 dedicated art instructors have decades of experience with spectacular results. Almost all of our students get accepted into specialized high schools including Laguardia, Frank Sinatra and Art and Design.

Bridgeview provides high quality art supplies free of charge to the kids with the exception of oil paints for the advanced students.

The usual progression is from still life to other subjects - portrait, landscape, multi-figure composition. Creative art from imagination is highly encouraged and supported.

Students ages 10–12 learn traditional classical drawing and painting through both observation and imagination. They work with pencil, markers, pastels, acrylics, and pen‑and‑ink while developing stronger control of proportion, perspective, tone, shading, color harmony, and volume. At this stage, children begin moving from flat, symbolic drawing to more dimensional, realistic work. They create still lifes, landscapes, cityscapes, and portraits, and also study the Old Masters to build technique and confidence. Creative, design‑oriented projects are encouraged to help students develop their own artistic voice.

Tuition: $550 for 12 weeks of classes including all professional-grade materials.
