The focus of this course is to learn to draw the human form. In order to produce a good drawing, it is important for an artist to really know what exactly they are drawing as opposed to just copying the surface. During the figure drawing intensive in the style of the Russian Academy of Arts, we will study the human form as a set of interconnected anatomical elements. This knowledge will allow the students to depend less on the model and focus more on creating strong and dynamic compositions. The class will consist of long poses contunuing through many sessions and short gestural drawings. Iliya Mirochnik will be giving portrait and figure drawing demonstrations.
