Drawing, Painting, Creativity. Classical Approach

Bridgeview is open 7 days a week during after school hours and all day on weekends. 7 dedicated highly professional art instructors teach our art classes for kids in LIC, Queens.

Students work in a large professionally equipped studio with easels.

Bridgeview provides high quality art supplies free of charge to the kids with the exception of oil paints for the advanced students.

Students ages 13 and up deepen their classical training in drawing, painting, and composition. At this stage, they are ready to engage with essential concepts such as three‑dimensional form, linear and atmospheric perspective, proportion, movement and gesture, design, rhythm, and color theory. Basic human anatomy is also introduced. Oil painting is available to students who already have strong foundational drawing skills.

Teens work in pencil, charcoal, pastels, acrylics, and pen‑and‑ink, and many progress into more advanced oil painting. They study still life, portrait, and landscape, and complete Old Master copies to build technique, discipline, and a deeper understanding of traditional painting methods. High school juniors and seniors often begin preparing pieces for their college art portfolios at this stage, building the skills they will refine further in our dedicated Portfolio Preparation program.

Tuition: $550 for 12 weeks of classes  including all professional-grade materials.

Attention! The more advanced classes with Sasha Budayev and Varvara Agabekova are for Bridgeview students who have had prior years of studies with other instructors and have adequate drawing skills to enter a new stage. It is also open to students from specialized art high schools and possibly others, depending on their general level and natural talent. However, in most cases, students will be asked to start from still life and cast (sculpture) drawing to learn the more serious academic methods and techniques before they can transition to painting.

What Parents are Saying:

Three of my children and I have been attending Bridgeview with several of the exceptional teachers since 2021. Our skills and general understanding and appreciation of art have been vastly improved since receiving instruction there. It is a challenging program that requires focus and a desire to learn, but improvement comes at an exponential rate. We have found the teachers uniformly sensitive, kind, patient and experienced since their training is so thorough and rigorous and the director only hires the best. They teach time-tested classical technique which provides a strong foundation for any art career, indeed any career. Our family has now received awards, gallery and museum showings, school acceptance and sales of our work, thanks to their wonderful instruction and guidance. It's rare to find a place this special and we are very grateful."
